"Remmel Charles Wilson Sr., age 89, of Little Rock, died April 17, 2013. Known to colleagues as RC and family as Dad or Granddaddy, Mr. Wilson retired in 1988 from Arkansas Pollution Control and Ecology as a Senior Systems Analyst. He was father of three children, grandfather of seven grandchildren, and had five great-grand children.

"Remmel was born in De Valls Bluff, AR in 1923 to parents Pat and Ethel Wilson. He graduated from Belleville High School in 1941 and studied chemical engineering at Arkansas Tech, lettering twice in boxing, before enlisting in the United States Navy where he was an Aviation Mechanic, Flight Line Mechanical Instructor, and a Golden Glove boxer until his honorable discharge in 1947. He had a lengthy stint in the meat packing industry for John Morel and Swift and Company, and worked for Halliburton as well. He was also active in The Civil Air Patrol.

"He was beloved by all his co-workers at Arkansas Pollution Control, as well as being extremely instrumental in the technological advancement for the state in this department. He scored several firsts during these years, including winning the first court case against an oil field operator, for which he was commended, and winning land mark cases in air and water pollution.

"Remmel was a great lover of New Orleans jazz, photography, epic story-telling, genealogies, and computer technology.
